Dear Church Family,
As you might have read in the news today, the Attorney-General’s Chambers (AGC) has decided to appeal against the State Court’s sentences meted out to the six in the City Harvest trial last Friday, 20 November 2015.
It said in its statement to the media today that “the Prosecution is of the view that the sentences imposed are manifestly inadequate. The Prosecution has accordingly filed notices of appeal today, against the sentences imposed on all six accused persons.”
Pastor Kong announced on his Facebook page this evening that he will be appealing. Also today, senior counsel N. Sreenivasan announced that Pastor Tan will be appealing. Before the sentencing last Friday, Chew Eng Han had already announced his decision to appeal. The other defendants will take advice from their respective lawyers and decide on whether to lodge an appeal or not. They have up to next Friday (4 December) to file notices of appeal against their convictions and/or sentences.
Please continue to pray earnestly for the six and their families that God will grant them wisdom, protection and grace during this challenging time.
In Christ,
The Senior Leadership
