Water Baptism

About Water Baptism

Water baptism is a significant milestone in the life of every Christian. It is an important step of obedience in a believer’s life as an outward acknowledgment of the salvation of Jesus Christ.

Our next water baptism will be held on the weekend of our Candlelight Services in Suntec Hall 605. Matthew 5:16 says to “let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven”. Make that important decision to shine the light of Christ in your life.

Celeste, Zelda and Celine Lim—three sisters, shared that for many years, their mother had not been keen on them getting baptised because she is not a believer. However, much to their surprise, she agreed to witness their baptism last year, making it an extra special Christmas for the entire family.

A celebration of new beginning

For John Mark Tan, the water baptism was a personal, spiritual experience, “I felt the outpouring of Father’s love: acceptance, affection, affirmation and redemption. Water baptism, for me, was the celebration of a new beginning, a new name, a new love relationship with my Lord and Saviour, a new walk towards Christ-likeness, and a new perspective of what is important to me.

Tan Kim Hock, School of Theology’s academic dean summed it up well, “One of the greatest joys of a Christian parent is to see their children making a personal commitment to Jesus Christ, not out of obligation, rather a personal encounter with God. May the Lord guide our children in their journey of faith.”
