« Back to "Desire To Serve?" main page COMMUNITY SERVICES
In conjunction with City Harvest Community Services Association (CHCSA), the Community Services ministry seeks to identify mature, responsible and pleasant individuals to be mentors for youth-at-risk or community service volunteers for the underprivileged in society.
As a mentor, you will have the awesome privilege of helping another person realize his or her fullest potential. You will need to have a big heart for such people and be constantly aware that you are a channel of God's love to these people.
There are 4 sub-categories, namely, the Community Outreach Program For The Elderly (COPE), the Hearing Impaired, Youth and the Prison Outreach ministry. Each of these categories require a large pool of volunteers and helpers who can help make a difference in the lives of these people.
Positions Available
COPE Volunteers
Our society is built upon the determination and hard work of our elders. They deserve our respect and love. As a volunteer in this ministry, you will get to interact and befriend the elderly. Take up the challenge to visit them regularly and accompany them for their medical check-ups.
Do something worthwhile and heartwarming–join in as we organize events and celebrate festive occasions with them!
Mentors To The Hearing Impaired
This ministry reaches out to all hearing impaired individuals, focusing especially on the children and youths.
As a mentor, you need to have patience, compassion and a loving heart for these special individuals. More than just helping them to develop effective social skills, your role will be to befriend them, encourage them and in the course of interaction, be their source of inspiration.
Youth Mentoring Program
Youth are the future of our generation. As a youth mentor, your role will be to assist in both their academic and social growth.
At the moment, we are reaching out to more than 120 youth. Through the many recreational events we organize, you will play a vital role during such outings as frequent interaction with them will help build confidence and trust. Ultimately, your goal is to impact and inspire these youth into desiring a higher standard of living and to inspire them to lead more meaningful lives.
Prison Outreach Mentors
We believe that inmates deserve a second chance in life. As a mentor, you will provide help and support to the inmates at individual and small group levels. Presently, we have started a mini Bible school that will conduct the five basic levels of Christian study for the inmates: Getting Started, Christian Lifestyle, Laying Foundation, Victorious Living and Going On To Perfection. You will not only visit and inspire these people, you will also assist the ministry leader in conducting Bible lessons.
